Hyaluronic Pen, the technique!

The Hyaluron Pen is a device used in aesthetic medicine. As the name indicates, the Hyaluron Pen (or Hyaluronic Pen) has a pen-like appearance.

It works on a pressure system for needle-free injection of hyaluronic acid to plump up the lips. It is also used to treat wrinkles, fine lines and signs of skin aging.

This spring-loaded pen delivers hyaluronic acid by compressed air. The hyaluronic acid is injected subcutaneously at a speed of 800 km/h, unlike needle injections where it can be introduced more deeply. After propulsion, the hyaluronic acid is absorbed and distributed evenly.

Please note: the results do not last as long as those obtained with a traditional needle injection by a doctor.

• 1 Hyaluron Pen 0,3 mm
• 1 sterile empty vial 0,3 mm (also called "cartridge")  
• 1 vial of injection product: Hyaluronic acid injection without lidocaine or Bio-revitalizing cocktail
• IM syringe and long needle for material transfer (or Transfer needle) 
• Cotton 
• Antiseptic (Biseptine) 
• Gloves

First, the instructor gave us some "tips":

1. The cross-linking of Hyaluronic Acid is more important than its concentration!
2. Evitez d'utiliser un Hyaluron Pen 2 en 1 à tête interchangeable. Le Hyaluron Pen 0,3 est adapté à l'injection d'Acide Hyaluronique pur, il apportera plus de précisions lors du geste. Le Hyaluron Pen 0,5 est destiné à l'Hydratation et non à l'injection pour créer du volume. 
3. Cotton should be placed between the lips and teeth to protect the teeth during the impulse.
4. Do not inject more than 0.03 ml per injection
5. Do not inject at the corners of the mouth
6. Do not inject into the mucous membrane (moist inner part of the lip)

- It is imperative to work in immaculate hygienic conditions. The area must be sterile, without coming and going in the room, the practitioner must have gloves and a mask. He must place cotton under the patient's lips before starting the session.

- The choice of hyaluronic acid is a crucial step to a good result. Carefully choose the Hyaluronic Acid according to the injection area. For the lips, the instructor recommended Hyamira Forte.

Caution: an injectable vial must be sterile and have the CE label in order to be used. 

- Inject the contents of the pre-filled hyaluronic acid syringe into the empty sterile vial compatible with the Hyaluron Pen.

If your hyaluronic acid is in a bottle, place the syringe on the end of the vial. Dip the needle into the hyaluronic acid and then collect by pulling the rod of the ampoule upwards. A syringe with an IM needle can be used to draw up the hyaluronic acid and repackage it in the empty vial, which is compatible with the Hyaluron Pen

If your hyaluronic acid is in a pre-filled syringe, inject the hyaluronic acid in the syringe directly into the vial. 

Please note that the rod in the vial must be removed prior to use. It is recommended to inject 0.25ml into a 0.3ml vial to be able to put the rod back in without any problem and avoid losses.

- Re-insert the rod into the vial, there should be no air bubbles present. The stem ensures the correct pressure of the gel.

- Screw the vial onto the Hyaluron Pen.

- Start the injection session by pressing the Hyaluron Pen from 0.02 ml to 0.02 ml maximum.

- Charge the Hyaluron Pen to activate the pressure.

- Set the quantity to be injected:

Doses to be injected according to the diesired results:

• 0,5 ml for a natural look
• 0,5 ml for a lip correction
• 1 ml and more for lip augmentation

- Position the Hyaluron Pen on the injection area.

- Impulse

- Massage the area after each impulse.

The result is not permanent. The hyaluronic acid resorbs with time. The effects last between 3 and 6 months depending on various factors such as the dose and quality of the hyaluronic acid injected but also the patient's lifestyle.

There are several types of Hyaluron Pen. The price variation is due to the technology and quality of the hyaluron pen (number of pulses, product lifespan and grip).
